I have over fourteen years of experience in the Intellectual Property field specializing in patents; with over eight years with the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Examiner. I’m passionate about the science of patent searching and have examined/analyzed patent applications in a wide range of subjects.

I grew up in Tampa, Florida. I enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities from traveling, cooking, and sports especially hiking/walking; my favorite hikes are along the beaches and the (easier) trails of the Grand Canyon. I’m a lifelong Florida sports fan, and a big supporter of the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. I can also communicate fluently both verbally and in writing in Vietnamese.

Tariq launched his patent company Patent Insider TM in 2017 after 10 years working inside the U.S. Patent Office. A Morehouse Man, Georgia Tech graduate, former NASA engineer, App Developer, business owner, and Georgetown University graduate, Tariq uses his professional and educational experiences to bring a broader perspective to his patent practice.

With Patent Insider, Tariq leads a team of patent insiders: patent agents, former USPTO patent examiners, and technical specialists dedicated to helping transform ideas and innovations into patents using their unique patent insider expertise.

Patent Insider represents companies of all sizes, ranging from startups to Fortune 1000 companies. Patent Insider focuses on protecting the intellectual property assets and developing the patent portfolios of companies in a variety of industries, including software, consumer products, mechanical devices, medical devices, robotics, electrical signal processing, and electronic and computer technologies. Patent Insider also provides patent prosecution support for in-house IP counsel as well as IP law firms assisting with their patent matters.

Attorney Hollis serves as the company’s legal advisor and patent quality consultant. While in private practice at Hollis IP Law, Gaylon counsels clients on their intellectual property rights and maximizing the potential depth and breadth of these rights in conjunction with other business considerations such as branding and marketing. He helped his clients procure patent, trademark, trade-dress and copyright protection. He also counseled clients on transactional aspects of intellectual property including licensing, portfolio management and due diligence considerations.

Gaylon also worked as an Associate at the Georgia Tech Research Corporation. While at Tech, he counseled professors and researchers on non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, and data transfer agreements with industry sponsors. Prior to his legal career, Gaylon worked as a systems engineer at NASA, General Motors and Lockheed Martin. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Clayton State University teaching Intellectual Property Law.

George is a retired Senior Patent Law Examiner at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office with 30 plus years of government service. During his tenure at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Walton became proficient and highly skilled in the technological areas that deals with fluid systems and valve devices, piston devices, brake devices, internal combustion engine (ICE) devices, medical and bio-medical devices, clean/green and environmental devices, computer hardware devices, measuring/testing devices, dispensing devices, tools, amusement/sport devices and other mechanical and electromechanical devices.

After his retirement on December 31, 2004, Mr. Walton contracted with International Business Machines (IBM) from 2005 to 2010, as a skilled and knowledgeable Patent Agent/Technology Consultant to research and determines the patentability of many of their potential inventive ideas. After the research was done and the patentability determinations of the potential inventive ideas had been decided, he then wrote the patent applications and prosecuted those patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. During this prosecution phase, it would be determined, which of the patent applications would be turned down or allowed to become patents.

Mr. Walton is currently Owner/CEO of Patent Analysis Research Technology Systems LLC, founded in 2005 in Arlington, Virginia. We rely on his vast experience as Patent Insider’s Chief Patent Consultant & Advisor. He also serves as our Lead Mechanical and Consumer product patent analyst.
